About the Project
Designed to be one of the greenest buildings in the federal inventory. It is designed to go beyond ‘not hurting’ the environment to being beneficial to nature and humans by generating more energy than it needs to operate, and using 90 percent less potable water than conventional buildings of comparable size.

The building also generates a considerable amount of its own renewable power through a variety of photovoltaics (solar panels), a highly efficient fuel cell, and a small wind turbine.  The building uses a sophisticated array of technology that exceeds a “smart building.” Therefore becoming an intuitive building that can anticipate and react to changes in sunlight, temperature, and usage. Over time, it optimizes its performance in response to internal and external change. Quasar and Synchro Vega chain actuators are used on awning windows for natural ventilation.
